KSDMA Issues Caution Regarding Inaccurate Heat Alerts on WhatsApp

Messages circulating on WhatsApp have been described as “official warnings” about an anticipated rise in temperatures across the State, with claims that temperatures may reach between 45℃ and 55℃ from April 29 to May 12.

Authorities have not confirmed the accuracy of these messages. It is important for residents to verify information with official sources, such as the State Meteorological Department or local government announcements, before taking any precautions.

Typically, the region experiences rising temperatures as it approaches peak summer months, with heat advisories often issued to ensure public safety. If forecasts do indicate extreme temperatures, officials usually recommend measures such as staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and checking on vulnerable individuals, including the elderly and young children.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and to rely on trusted news outlets and official communication channels for accurate weather updates and safety guidelines during this period.
