KWA Intensifies Actions to Address Water Supply Disruptions in Kozhikode
Heavy rainfall in the region has compelled the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) subdivision to temporarily reduce water supply from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) drinking water project. This reduction has been in effect for nearly a week due to the influx of highly turbid water, which has resulted in significant siltation in the filter beds of the treatment plant.
As a result of these conditions, residents in several areas dependent on this water supply are experiencing widespread shortages. KWA officials have reported that they are working to mitigate the situation by employing additional measures to clear the siltation and restore normal water supply levels as soon as possible.
The JICA drinking water project aims to provide clean and safe drinking water to various regions, enhancing public health and reducing waterborne diseases. This incident highlights the challenges faced in water management, particularly during adverse weather conditions. Residents are advised to conserve water and remain updated on any further developments from the KWA regarding the water supply situation.
