Lok Sabha Passes CAPF Bill Amid Opposition Walkout Over Home Ministers Absence

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi recently expressed on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that he had communicated with the government requesting a postponement of a scheduled session due to his election campaign commitments in Assam. However, his appeal was not heeded by the authorities.

In light of this, Gandhis party, along with the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Trinamool Congress, has called for the matter to be referred to a select committee for further evaluation. Such a committee generally comprises a smaller group of parliamentary members who can scrutinize legislation in detail, allowing for thorough discussion and consideration of the implications of the proposed measures.

The call for a select committee is part of a broader strategy by opposition parties to ensure that proposed legislation is examined adequately before being passed. This situation reflects ongoing tensions between the ruling party and opposition groups, particularly in the context of upcoming elections and the political climate in India, where various parties are actively campaigning and mobilizing support.
