LPG Tanker Sarv Shakti Associated with India Transits Strait of Hormuz

A Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) registered under the Marshall Islands flag, with an all-Indian crew, is currently transporting approximately 45,000 tonnes of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). During its voyage, the vessel transmitted its identification as ‘India/Indian crew’ via the Automatic Identification System (AIS), a tracking system used for maritime navigation and safety.

VLGCs are specialized ships designed for the transportation of LPG and other gases. Their size typically ranges from 60,000 to 85,000 cubic meters in capacity. The Indian maritime industry has seen a growing number of its crew members serving on international vessels, reflecting the countrys significant role in global shipping and maritime trade. This incident highlights the importance of proper identification and transparency in maritime operations, as it aids in tracking vessels for safety and regulatory purposes.
