Maharashtra Government Launches NCMC Card Scheme to Offer Travel Discounts for Senior Citizens
In a new initiative aimed at enhancing accessibility and support for various demographic groups, Aadhaar-linked National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) smart cards will be distributed to students, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, women, and other beneficiaries entitled to concessions.
The NCMC smart card integrates payment functionalities, allowing users to access multiple modes of public transportation, including buses, metro services, and even select retail transactions, thereby promoting seamless mobility and convenience. The initiative aligns with the government’s efforts to digitize and streamline public services, making them more inclusive for all segments of society.
Authorities have indicated that this program not only aims to ease transportation for vulnerable groups but also seeks to encourage the use of digital payment systems across the board. Further details regarding the distribution process, eligibility criteria, and the timeline for implementation are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
