Maharashtra Government to Implement Ban on Plastic Flowers

In response to concerns regarding the rising use of plastic flowers, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed the issue raised by BJP MLC Sadashiv Khot. Khot highlighted that the proliferation of plastic floral products is adversely affecting the livelihood of floriculture farmers in the region, who rely on the sale of natural flowers for their income.

Fadnavis acknowledged the validity of these concerns and emphasized the importance of supporting local farmers while addressing environmental issues related to plastic waste. The discussion is part of broader efforts to promote sustainable practices within the floriculture industry and may lead to potential regulations or incentives aimed at balancing the interests of farmers and environmental sustainability. As the market dynamics shift, stakeholders are increasingly advocating for policies that favor the sale of natural products over synthetic alternatives.
