Manika Batra Considers Legal Action Regarding Asian Games Exclusion

Indian table tennis player Manika Batra has indicated her intention to pursue legal action against the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) following her exclusion from the squad for the upcoming Asian Games. Batra has clarified that she is not advocating for preferential treatment but is seeking a transparent and factual rationale behind the decision to exclude her from the team.

She has reached out to high-ranking officials, including the Prime Minister and the Minister of Sports, urging them to intervene in the matter. Batra emphasizes the need for accountability in the selection process and has expressed concerns over the apparent lack of communication regarding team selections within the Federation.

The Asian Games, scheduled to be hosted in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8, 2023, have drawn significant attention, especially among Indian athletes striving for medals in various disciplines. Manika Batra, who has previously gained recognition for her performance in international competitions, including winning a historic bronze medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, continues to advocate for fair treatment and transparency in sports selection processes in India.

The TTFI has yet to respond to Batras claims and requests for clarification on these selection decisions.
