Marathi Language Requirement for Auto and Taxi Drivers in Maharashtra Effective May 1

A new regulation regarding driver checks will take effect on Maharashtra Day, which is celebrated on May 1st each year, as announced by officials on April 14, 2026. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik stated that the Motor Transport Department will launch a comprehensive campaign utilizing its 59 offices throughout the state to implement this initiative.
