Minister announces provision of free solar units for 600,000 SC/ST families in Andhra Pradesh.

In a significant initiative aimed at promoting renewable energy and supporting underprivileged communities, Gottipati Ravikumar announced that solar power units, valued at ₹1.25 lakh per household, will be provided at no cost to approximately 6,000 Scheduled Caste (SC) families in the Addanki constituency. This project is a collaborative effort between the Central and State governments, with an estimated investment of up to ₹80 crore.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance the use of sustainable energy sources in the region and improve the living standards of economically disadvantaged communities. By providing these solar units, families will not only reduce their dependency on traditional energy sources but also contribute to environmental conservation efforts through the adoption of clean energy technology.

The installation of these solar units is expected to foster economic development within the community by lowering energy costs for families and potentially creating job opportunities in the installation and maintenance of solar panels. Further details regarding the implementation timeline and the criteria for selecting beneficiary families are awaited as the project progresses.
