Minister Nara Lokesh Discusses Progress on Space City Vision in A.P.

Astrobase is establishing Indias first private cryogenic engine test facility with a thrust capacity of 200 tons in the Thottambedu mandal of Tirupati district. This significant development was announced by the states IT Minister.

Cryogenic engines are crucial for advanced space missions as they utilize supercooled propellants, allowing for enhanced efficiency and performance in launches. The establishment of this facility is expected to support Indias growing space ambitions and foster private-sector participation in the aerospace sector. It may serve as a hub for testing and developing propulsion systems that could be used in various applications, including satellite launches and interplanetary missions.

This initiative aligns with the Indian governments broader objective to enhance the countrys capabilities in space technology and reduce dependency on foreign facilities for critical testing. The investment in this facility is likely to create job opportunities and promote research and development within the region.
