Mohan Bhagwat Advocates for Increased Promotion of Sanskrit Language
RSS Chief Highlights Sanskrits Influence on Indian Languages
The Chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) recently stated that a considerable portion of the vocabulary used in various linguistic traditions across India is either derived from or has been influenced by Sanskrit. He emphasized that the revival and promotion of Sanskrit will not overshadow other regional languages but will instead serve to reinforce and enrich them.
Sanskrit, one of the oldest languages in the world, has a profound historical and cultural significance in India. It is the foundational language for several Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, and Marathi, among others. The Chiefs remarks come amid ongoing discussions about the preservation of linguistic heritage in India, where over 1,600 languages are spoken.
The promotion of Sanskrit in education and cultural initiatives has been a topic of interest in recent years, with advocates arguing that its revival can enhance the understanding of a rich literary tradition while encouraging intellectual growth across all Indian languages. The RSS leaders comments reflect a broader movement towards valuing linguistic diversity in India while acknowledging the historical importance of Sanskrit in shaping modern Indian languages.
