Mohan Bhagwat Responds to Priyank Kharges Call for Transparency in RSS, Suggesting Political Motives
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat stated that the organization does not receive funding from the government and, therefore, is not required to register under any government authority. This clarification comes in response to a letter from Indian National Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, dated June 13, in which he requested information regarding the RSSs registration status, as well as details about its sources of funding, income, expenditures, and assets.
The RSS is a Hindu nationalist organization founded in 1925, and it has long been a subject of interest due to its significant influence on Indian society and politics. It operates as a volunteer organization and engages in various social, educational, and charitable activities across the country. Despite its extensive reach, the RSS has historically maintained that it operates independently from governmental financial support.
Bhagwats assertion reinforces the RSSs position that it does not require government oversight regarding its funding mechanisms, which continues to be a point of discussion in political circles, especially among opposition parties. The inquiry into the RSSs financial and operational transparency reflects broader concerns about the accountability of organizations that significantly impact public discourse and policy in India.
