Mumbai Bus Services Disrupted on Day 3 of BEST Strike; 100 Buses Arranged for NEET Students
A strike initiated by the BEST Sanyukt Kamgar Kruti Samiti has significantly disrupted Mumbais civic-operated bus transport services since June 19. The strike has led to a substantial reduction in bus availability, prompting commuters to seek alternative modes of transportation for their daily travel needs.
The affected bus services are managed by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), which provides essential public transport to thousands of residents in the city. Passengers have reported long wait times and overcrowded alternative services, including auto-rickshaws and local trains, as the strike continues.
Negotiations between the striking workers and the BEST management have yet to yield a resolution. The union has raised concerns regarding wages and working conditions, which they assert must be addressed to restore normal services. As the situation develops, city officials are exploring ways to minimize the impact on commuters and facilitate a return to regular bus operations.
