Negotiations Conclude Without Resolution for Nurses Strike at Two Hospitals in Thrissur

In response to ongoing discussions regarding nurse wages, hospitals have stated that an immediate wage revision is not feasible at this time. However, they have committed to adhere to the salary adjustments recently announced by the state government. Nurses have been on strike for three months outside two hospitals, advocating for a minimum monthly salary of ₹40,000.

The strike has garnered significant attention, highlighting the concerns of healthcare workers regarding fair compensation in light of their essential roles during the pandemic and beyond. The state governments announced salary revision is expected to impact not only nurses but also other healthcare staff, as wage discrepancies and working conditions remain pressing issues in the healthcare sector. Negotiations between the nurses union and hospital management are expected to continue as both parties seek to address the ongoing strike and find a resolution that meets the needs of the nursing staff.
