New Geriatric Care Hospital Opens in the City
Karthik Narayan, founder and managing director of Athulya Senior Care, emphasized the significant disparity in senior care resources between India and other countries. He noted that India currently has approximately 20,000 dedicated senior care beds, a stark contrast to nearly eight million in China and close to three million in the United States.
This lack of adequate facilities reflects a growing concern regarding elder care in India, especially as the country faces an increasing aging population. According to estimates, the elderly population in India is projected to reach over 340 million by 2050. The current infrastructure for senior care is insufficient to meet the needs of this demographic, highlighting a critical area for development and investment in the health and social services sector.
