NMC Approves Increase of MBBS Seats at GMC Srinagar to 250 Starting in 2026-27

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved an increase of fifty new MBBS seats at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, raising the total annual intake from 200 to 250 students starting from the academic year 2026-2027. This decision is part of ongoing efforts to bolster medical education and improve healthcare services throughout Jammu and Kashmir.

The additional seats come after a prior expansion that had been sanctioned last year, reflecting a continued commitment to increasing the capacity for medical training in the region. This initiative is expected to not only enhance the number of qualified healthcare professionals in Jammu and Kashmir but also address the growing demand for medical services in the area.
