NTA Overhaul Underway with Removal of 600 Experts, Introduction of Four-Tier Paper Checks and CISF Security Planned
The Government of India has initiated a comprehensive reform of the National Testing Agency (NTA) in response to ongoing controversies surrounding examination integrity. Key measures being implemented include the replacement of 600 experts involved in the examination processes, the introduction of a four-tier procedure for scrutinizing question papers, and the enhancement of security at examination centers by deploying personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
This overhaul comes in the wake of significant incidents, such as the recent NEET-UG paper leak and reported discrepancies in the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) examinations. These controversies have raised concerns about the reliability of the testing framework, prompting the government to take action to restore public trust among students and stakeholders.
The reforms aim not only to enhance the security and integrity of examinations but also to improve the overall examination experience for candidates. The NTA, established in 2017, plays a crucial role in conducting various entrance tests for higher education institutions across India, including NEET and JEE Main. Ensuring a fair and transparent examination process is vital for maintaining the credibility of these assessments, which thousands of students rely on for their educational and career futures.
