Odisha Increases Quota for Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes; Implements Reservation for Other Backward Classes in Medical and Technical Education
In the State, the total number of engineering seats available has reached 44,579. Notably, the allocation for Scheduled Tribes (STs) will see a significant increase, rising from 5,349 to 10,030 seats. This amendment aims to enhance access to engineering education for marginalized communities and ensure greater inclusivity within the academic landscape.
The adjustment in seat allocation reflects ongoing efforts by the government to promote educational opportunities for underrepresented groups. It is part of a broader initiative aimed at increasing the representation of ST students in higher education programs, particularly in fields such as engineering, which are vital for the state’s technological advancement and economic growth.
Stakeholders from various sectors, including educational institutions and community organizations, are encouraged to support these changes to ensure that eligible students are well-informed about their opportunities in engineering education.
