Odisha Government Approves Projects Valued at Approximately ₹76,612 Crore Expected to Generate 50,517 Jobs
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited has announced plans to establish a manufacturing facility for solar ingots and wafers, as well as a solar photovoltaic (PV) cell production unit in Ganjam, Odisha. The proposed project represents an investment of ₹10,000 crore (approximately $1.2 billion).
This initiative is part of Tata Powers broader strategy to enhance its renewable energy capabilities and contribute to Indias transition towards sustainable energy sources. By setting up this facility, the company aims to boost local manufacturing of solar components, thereby reducing dependence on imports and supporting the government’s aim for greater energy self-sufficiency.
The project is expected to create significant employment opportunities in the region and stimulate economic growth, aligning with the national commitment to promote renewable energy and achieve carbon neutrality. As part of its green energy agenda, Tata Power is exploring various projects to expand its renewable energy portfolio, which includes solar, wind, and hydropower initiatives across the country.
