Parliamentary Panel Highlights Discrepancy Between Curriculum Design and Textbook Availability for Classes 9-12

A parliamentary panel has raised concerns regarding the delays in updating the curriculum for Classes 9 to 12 in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023. The committee highlighted that the unavailability of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbooks is creating challenges for students preparing for board exams.

In addition to addressing curriculum issues, the committee called for improvements in various areas of the education system. These include enhanced teacher training to ensure educators are well-equipped to implement the new curriculum, the provision of fee waivers for economically disadvantaged students to promote inclusivity, greater transparency in examination processes to build trust in academic assessments, and increased government spending on education to facilitate long-term reforms in schools.

This discussion comes in light of ongoing efforts to modernize Indias educational framework and enhance learning outcomes for all students. The recommendations from the parliamentary panel aim to address systemic issues that have been affecting educational equity and quality in the country.
