Pharmacies to Remain Open on May 20 as Chemists Display Solidarity through Black Badges and Ribbons

The Medical Council for the Development and Regulation of Controlled Substances (MCDRCA) has raised concerns regarding various online platforms promoting significant discounts on life-saving medications. The organization noted that these aggressive marketing strategies, particularly through social media and advertisements, may mislead the public regarding the importance and value of essential medicines.

The MCDRCA emphasizes that life-saving medications are critical to public health and should not be treated as promotional items. The council calls for increased regulation and oversight in the advertising practices related to pharmaceuticals to ensure that patients are adequately informed about the necessity and significance of these medications. Additionally, experts are suggesting that consumers exercise caution when purchasing medications online and verify the credibility of the platforms they use, to avoid counterfeit products and ensure patient safety.
