PM Modi Arrives in Uzbekistan for SCO Summit; Welcomed by President Mirziyoyev

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Uzbekistan as part of a two-nation visit that includes attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. He was warmly received by Uzbekistans President Shavkat Mirziyoyev upon landing in Tashkent. This summit is particularly significant as it is expected to address key issues such as regional security, trade, and international cooperation.

The summit comes with high expectations for discussions around pivotal topics, including the upcoming BRICS summit and potential reforms to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). PM Modi expressed optimism about collaborating with SCO member states to enhance regional stability and combat terrorism.

During his visit, PM Modi emphasized the importance of a “shared vision” among the member nations, highlighting collaboration across various sectors, including trade, culture, energy, and defense. He indicated Indias commitment to working closely with its partners in the SCO to promote peace and economic development in the region.

Leaders from several other countries are also scheduled to participate in the summit, which provides a platform for discussing pressing global challenges and enhancing multilateral partnerships. The SCO, formed in 2001, aims to foster regional cooperation on issues ranging from security to economic development and cultural exchange.

This visit marks a continuation of Indias active engagement with Central Asian nations, reinforcing its strategic and economic ties in a region increasingly viewed as important in global geopolitics.
