PM Modi Inaugurates CG Semiconductor Facility in Gujarat, Highlighting Indias Electronics Revolution

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the CG Semiconductor facility in Sanand, Gujarat, marking a significant milestone in Indias ambitious electronics revolution. This state-of-the-art facility is recognized as a critical step towards establishing India as a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing, an industry vital for electronics production.

During his address, PM Modi emphasized the significance of the semiconductor sector, stating that it will not only bolster Indias technological capabilities but also create millions of job opportunities. He noted that India is now the second-largest manufacturer of mobile phones in the world and reiterated the governments commitment to the “Make in India” initiative, which aims to boost local manufacturing and reduce dependency on imports.

The CG Semiconductor facility is expected to produce advanced semiconductor components, playing a crucial role in various sectors, including telecommunications, automotive, and consumer electronics, thereby catering to domestic demand as well as international markets. The Prime Minister highlighted that investments in semiconductor technology are essential for achieving self-reliance in electronics manufacturing.

Experts predict that the establishment of such facilities will foster innovation and attract further investments, strengthening Indias position in the global electronics supply chain. The government is actively promoting several policies and incentives aimed at attracting semiconductor companies to set up operations in the country.

This inauguration is part of the broader strategy outlined in the National Policy on Electronics, which aims to position India as a global leader in electronics design and manufacturing by 2025.
