Premium petrol will continue to be ethanol-free; no current plans to exceed 20% blending, Government informs Parliament.

The government has announced that premium petrol grades will remain ethanol-free for consumers. There are currently no plans to reintroduce lower ethanol blends such as E0 or E10. Regular petrol will continue to have an ethanol content of twenty percent, known as E20. This level of ethanol blending has not been associated with any widespread adverse effects on vehicle performance or environmental impact.

Officials emphasize that any future decisions regarding potential increases in ethanol blending will be guided by comprehensive research and consultations with stakeholders, including automotive experts, environmentalists, and consumer groups.
