President Awards Padma Honors to Mammootty and Vijay Amritraj

During a recent ceremony, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the Padma Bhushan, one of Indias highest civilian honors, to several notable individuals in recognition of their significant contributions to various fields.

Among the recipients were renowned playback singer Alka Yagnik, celebrated actor Mammootty, and esteemed American oncologist Dr. Dattatreyudu Nori, known for his pioneering work in cancer treatment and research.

Additionally, the award was presented to former tennis player Vijay Amritraj, who has made significant contributions to the sport both as a player and a commentator. Industrialist S.K.M. Maeilanandhan, recognized for his contributions to business and industry, and social worker and educationist Vellappally Natesan, known for his efforts in education and community service, were also honored during the event.

The Padma Awards are presented annually and aim to recognize the excellence and achievements of individuals in various domains, including arts, literature, social work, and public service. The recipients of the Padma Bhushan reflect Indias diverse cultural and professional landscape, symbolizing the nations appreciation for those who have made remarkable contributions to society.
