President Murmu to Present Padma Awards on June 23
President of India has approved the conferral of 131 Padma awards for the year, recognizing individuals for their exceptional contributions across various fields. Among the distinguished recipients are renowned actors Mammootty and R. Madhavan, both celebrated for their significant impact on Indian cinema. The awards also include a posthumous recognition for the late actor Satish Shah, which will be accepted by his family.
The Padma awards comprise three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri, honoring achievements in art, culture, literature, sports, science, and public service, among others. These awards are amongst the highest civilian honors in India and aim to acknowledge the exemplary work and dedication of individuals who have made noteworthy contributions to society.
The recipients this year have been selected for their outstanding achievements and influence, further highlighting the diversity and talent present within the country. The awards will be formally presented by the President at a ceremony later this year.
