Proposal to Convert Historic Boys School Sparks Controversy

St. Joseph’s Boys’ Higher Secondary School in Kozhikode will begin admitting female students into its Plus One classes for the current academic year. This decision marks a significant change for the institution, which has traditionally been an all-boys school.

Looking ahead, the school plans to gradually integrate girl students into Class V starting in the 2026–2027 academic year. This phased approach will allow for a smooth transition and integration of female students into the school’s educational framework.

The move towards co-education is part of a broader trend among educational institutions in the region to promote inclusivity and equal opportunities in education. As this transition unfolds, the school administration is expected to provide updates on enrollment processes and support systems for the incoming students.
