Puducherry Pollution Control Committee Initiates E-Waste Inventorization Survey Throughout the Union Territory
A new initiative has been launched in collaboration with the National Productivity Council to tackle the growing issue of electronic waste (e-waste). This project aims to create a detailed inventory of bulk consumers of electronic products, quantify the amount of e-waste generated, and identify the sources of this waste. Additionally, it will map existing repair and dismantling units and assess current practices for handling e-waste.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote environmentally sustainable practices and improve waste management in the electronics sector. The increasing use of electronic devices, such as smartphones, computers, and household appliances, has led to a significant rise in e-waste, which poses serious environmental and health risks if not properly managed.
By gathering data on e-waste generation and management, this collaboration seeks to enhance recycling efforts, promote responsible disposal, and ultimately reduce the environmental impact of electronic waste. The results of this initiative are expected to support policy-making and public awareness campaigns focused on e-waste management in the future.
