Pulse Polio Campaign Initiated in Thrissur, Targeting Over 173,000 Children for Vaccination

Minister O.J. Janeesh Advocates for Immunisation as a Key Defense Against Diseases

In a recent statement, Minister O.J. Janeesh emphasized the critical role of immunisation in establishing a robust defense against infectious diseases. He highlighted that vaccines not only protect individuals but also contribute significantly to community health by creating herd immunity.

The Minister pointed out that immunisation programs have proven effective in reducing the incidence of various diseases, including measles, polio, and influenza. By encouraging widespread vaccination, public health officials aim to lower disease prevalence and protect vulnerable populations, such as those with weakened immune systems.

Janeesh urged citizens to participate in vaccination campaigns and stay informed about recommended immunisations for both adults and children. He noted that global health organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), support immunisation as a fundamental component of health care systems.

He also announced plans for upcoming vaccination drives aimed at increasing public awareness of the benefits of immunisation. These initiatives will focus on educating communities about vaccine safety and efficacy to help dispel myths and encourage greater participation.
