Rains Cause Damage to 690 km of Roads in AP, Estimated Loss at Rs 402 Crore

Heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh have caused significant damage to the states infrastructure, particularly affecting approximately 690 kilometers of roads. The estimated loss due to this damage has been assessed at around Rs 402 crore (approximately $48 million).

Officials report that the rains, which were part of a seasonal weather pattern, have led to washouts, potholes, and erosion on numerous roadways, compromising transportation and access to various regions. Local authorities are currently engaged in damage assessment and are formulating plans for restoration.

In response to the situation, government agencies are mobilizing resources to begin repair work as soon as conditions allow. This event highlights the ongoing challenges that extreme weather poses to infrastructure in India, particularly in states like Andhra Pradesh, which experience heavy monsoon rains annually.
