Rajnath Singh Emphasizes Continued Relevance of Conventional Warfare Since 1947

Indias Defence Minister announced significant growth in the countrys defence production, reporting an increase to over ₹1,78,000 crore for the fiscal year 2025-26. This marks a considerable rise from ₹46,000 crore in 2014.

The boost in defence production is attributed to various initiatives under the Make in India program, which aims to enhance self-reliance in defence manufacturing and reduce dependency on foreign imports. The government has emphasized the importance of domestic production to strengthen national security and improve the overall efficiency of the armed forces.

In recent years, India has also increased investments in research and development for indigenous defence technologies, including missiles, aircraft, and naval vessels. This strategic shift is aimed at making the country a global hub for defence manufacturing, aligning with the governments vision to boost exports in defence equipment and technology.
