Sebi approves NSE IPO; listing expected around September 25

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has approved the long-awaited initial public offering (IPO) of the National Stock Exchange (NSE). This milestone paves the way for NSEs listing, which is anticipated to take place around September 25, 2023.

The IPO comes after a decade-long wait for the exchange, which is one of the largest in India and has been pivotal in the countrys financial markets. The NSE is expected to raise substantial capital through this IPO, which will further enhance its operational capabilities and market presence.

Reports indicate that the IPO is likely to hit the market this month, with significant investor interest already noted. Following the announcement, shares of related companies, including IFCI and NIACL, have experienced price increases of up to 15%.

In a separate development, the Supreme Court of India has disposed of SEBI’s pleas against NSE following a settlement involving ₹1,500 crore. This resolution not only clears some regulatory hurdles for the exchange but also allows it to focus on its forthcoming IPO.

NSEs listing is seen as a crucial step for transparency and governance in the Indian financial markets, bolstering investor confidence in the long-term integrity of its operations.
