Severe Flooding in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh Affects Over 22,000 Residents

Heavy rainfall has led to widespread flooding in the northeastern Indian states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, affecting more than 22,000 people and resulting in significant infrastructure damage. Emergency services are on high alert, responding to the needs of affected communities.

In Assam, notably, a railway bridge partially collapsed in Dhemaji district due to the rising water levels, disrupting rail services across the region. Thousands of residents have been forced to evacuate their homes as floodwaters inundate villages and towns. Reports indicate that over 16,000 residents in Assam alone have been affected, with additional warnings issued in Arunachal Pradesh where a red alert has been declared.
