Shortage of NCERT Textbooks Affects Class 9 Students in Bengaluru CBSE Schools
Several Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools in Bengaluru are currently experiencing a significant shortage of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) textbooks, particularly affecting students in Classes 6 to 9. Class 9 students are experiencing the most severe impact, primarily due to the rollout of a newly introduced syllabus.
In the absence of physical textbooks, schools have been turning to alternative resources such as digital PDFs, DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing) materials, and a limited number of library copies. However, educators have voiced concerns that this reliance on digital resources is hampering the teaching process, disrupting regular assignments, and impeding classroom activities.
Parents and booksellers have expressed their frustration over the textbook shortage, highlighting the challenges it poses for students and families alike. Additionally, school leaders caution that ongoing delays in obtaining the required textbooks could severely affect students’ learning continuity and their preparation for upcoming board examinations.
The NCERT textbooks are critical for aligning with the national curriculum framework and ensuring students are adequately prepared for assessments. Schools and educational authorities are urged to address the shortage promptly to minimize its impact on students’ academic performance. Efforts are being made to expedite the procurement of textbooks to ensure that all students have the resources needed for a successful educational experience.
