Significant Renovations Scheduled for 174-Year-Old Dowleswaram Barrage
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to conduct a bhumi puja (groundbreaking ceremony) next week, marking the initiation of a significant project to replace 117 gates at various irrigation facilities. The project is estimated to cost approximately Rs. 150 crore. Water Resources Minister Nimmala Rama Naidu announced the forthcoming ceremony, highlighting the governments commitment to improving irrigation infrastructure in the region.
This project aims to enhance water management and distribution in agricultural areas, which is crucial for supporting the local farming community and boosting agricultural productivity. The replacement of the gates is expected to lead to better water control, thereby promoting efficient irrigation practices.
The governments investment in such infrastructure projects is seen as part of a broader strategy to address water scarcity issues and improve the overall irrigation system in the state. Further details regarding the locations of the gates and the expected timeline for completion of the project are anticipated to be shared during the bhumi puja.
