SME Growth Fund Support Requested for MSMEs with SMA2 NPA Loan Accounts
The Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) has called for the establishment of a dedicated growth fund to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that are classified under SMA-2 and have non-performing asset (NPA) loan accounts. This appeal comes in light of the ongoing challenges faced by these businesses, particularly in the wake of the economic disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
FISMEs request emphasizes the need for targeted financial assistance to help MSMEs recover and thrive. The organization highlights that many of these enterprises are struggling to manage their debts and maintain operations due to the financial strain exacerbated by the pandemic. The SMA-2 classification refers to accounts that are showing signs of stress but have not yet defaulted, indicating that these businesses are on the verge of financial distress.
The proposed growth fund would aim to provide much-needed capital to these MSMEs, enabling them to stabilize their operations, invest in growth opportunities, and ultimately contribute to the broader economy. FISME argues that supporting these enterprises is crucial, as they play a significant role in job creation and economic development in India.
In addition to financial support, FISME has also suggested that the government implement measures to streamline the loan restructuring process for MSMEs. This would involve simplifying the procedures and reducing bureaucratic hurdles that often hinder access to financial assistance. By making it easier for these businesses to restructure their loans, FISME believes that more MSMEs can be saved from falling into deeper financial trouble.
The organization is urging policymakers to recognize the importance of MSMEs in the economic landscape and to take proactive steps to ensure their survival and growth. With the right support, FISME believes that these enterprises can not only recover from the current challenges but also emerge stronger and more resilient in the future.
As the government considers FISMEs recommendations, the focus remains on creating a conducive environment for MSMEs to flourish. This includes not only financial assistance but also fostering innovation, improving access to markets, and enhancing overall business conditions. The call for a dedicated growth fund is a crucial step towards ensuring that MSMEs receive the support they need to navigate these challenging times and continue to contribute to Indias economic growth.
