Southwest Monsoon Arrives in Kerala, According to IMD
Heavy rainfall has been reported in several regions of Kerala, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue an orange alert for the districts of Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Ernakulam. The alert, which signifies the possibility of severe weather, is in effect for a duration of three hours.
As part of the alert, authorities have advised residents to remain cautious, particularly in low-lying areas prone to flooding. Orange alerts are typically issued when there is a likelihood of adverse weather conditions that could potentially disrupt normal activities.
Keralas monsoon season generally spans from June to September, but heavy rains can occasionally occur outside this timeframe, impacting agriculture, infrastructure, and daily life. Local meteorological experts recommend that residents stay updated on weather forecasts and be prepared for potential disruptions.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with disaster management teams to ensure public safety. Further updates from the IMD and state officials are expected as conditions develop.
