Srisailam Temple Set to Release Ancient Inscriptions Found at Ghanta Matam
Inscriptions have been unearthed during the reconstruction of Ghanta Matam, recognized as the oldest of the pancha matams—the five monasteries associated with the temple. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in Mysuru successfully deciphered these inscriptions, which are expected to provide significant insights into the temples historical and cultural context.
The Ghanta Matam holds great importance in the region, and the discovery of these inscriptions may shed light on various aspects of its history, including its architectural evolution, religious practices, and the socio-cultural dynamics of the time. Archaeologists and historians anticipate that further study of these findings will enhance understanding of the temples legacy and its role in the local community throughout the centuries.
