SRM University Plans to Establish Tech and Research Park by 2027, Inspired by IIT Madras Research Park

At the Hindu Deep Tech Summit 2026, the Director of Entrepreneurship at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) emphasized the importance of a robust technological ecosystem for transforming academic research into viable spin-off companies. He noted that the growth of innovation requires not just funding and mentorship but also a comprehensive support structure that facilitates collaboration between researchers, entrepreneurs, and investors.

In addition, he announced the establishment of a rural tech incubator aimed at supporting start-ups in smaller towns. This incubator will focus on nurturing local talent and fostering innovation in less urbanized areas, addressing a gap in access to resources and mentorship for aspiring entrepreneurs outside major metropolitan regions. By providing tailored resources and networking opportunities, the initiative seeks to stimulate economic growth and technological advancement in rural communities.

The summit highlighted various initiatives aimed at bridging the gap between research institutions and industry, with a focus on promoting sustainable development through technology-driven solutions. Participants included industry leaders, academics, and policymakers, all contributing to discussions on the future of deep technology and its role in societal advancement.
