Standard Operating Procedures Introduced for Four Trekking Trails in Kudremukh Wildlife Division, Karnataka
New Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) have been initiated for the Netravathi, Kudremukh, Kurinjal, and Gandikal trekking trails in Karnataka. This implementation is part of an effort to enhance visitor safety and preserve the delicate ecosystems in these areas, which are popular among nature enthusiasts and trekkers.
The SOP includes guidelines for responsible trekking, group sizes, waste management, and designated camping zones to minimize environmental impact. Additionally, it aims to regulate the number of visitors to prevent overcrowding and ensure sustainable tourism practices. Park authorities and local environmental groups are collaborating to promote awareness about these new measures.
Netravathi, Kudremukh, Kurinjal, and Gandikal trails are known for their stunning landscapes and biodiversity, attracting both local and international tourists. The region is home to various flora and fauna, some of which are endemic to the Western Ghats, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The proper implementation of these SOPs is seen as essential for the protection and maintenance of these precious natural resources while also enhancing the overall visitor experience.
