Supreme Court Approval Required for Delays in Selection of State DGPs Under New UPSC Regulation

The Attorney General informed the Supreme Court that there is no provision granting the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) the authority to condone significant delays in appointments. Additionally, the Supreme Court clarified that states cannot appoint an acting Director General of Police (DGP), as such a position is not recognized within the legal framework.
