Survey of All STPs in the City Conducted by HMWSSB
HMWS&SB to Conduct Comprehensive Survey of Sewage Treatment Plants in the City
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has announced plans to conduct a comprehensive survey of all sewage treatment plants (STPs) within the city. This initiative aims to assess the current operational status and efficiency of the existing facilities.
The survey will involve detailed inspections and evaluations of the 15 STPs currently in operation across Hyderabad. These plants play a crucial role in managing the citys wastewater, treating approximately 1,400 million liters of sewage daily. The HMWS&SBs investigation will focus on identifying any operational deficiencies, infrastructure needs, and environmental compliance issues.
In recent years, increasing urbanization in Hyderabad has led to heightened concerns over wastewater management and environmental sustainability. Improving the efficiency of STPs not only addresses public health and sanitation issues but also enhances the overall water quality of the citys rivers and lakes.
Following the completion of this survey, the HMWS&SB plans to develop a strategic action plan for upgrading and maintaining the STPs, ensuring they meet both current and future wastewater treatment demands. The board is also expected to engage with local communities and stakeholders to gather feedback and insights on the state of sewage management in the city.
This proactive step is in line with the broader initiatives by the government to promote sustainable urban development and efficiently manage local resources. The HMWS&SB has emphasized its commitment to providing safe and clean water while addressing the challenges posed by rapid urban growth.
