Tamil Nadu Government Increases CM Health Insurance Coverage to ₹25 Lakh
In a significant move aimed at enhancing healthcare access, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, has announced an increase in the coverage limit of the Chief Ministers Health Insurance Scheme from ₹5 lakh to ₹25 lakh per family per year. This initiative is expected to benefit numerous families across the state by providing greater financial protection against medical expenses.
The enhanced coverage will cover inpatient treatment, including surgery, and also extend to outpatient services for various critical conditions. The move aligns with the governments ongoing efforts to bolster public health infrastructure and ensure comprehensive healthcare access for all citizens, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Additionally, the Tamil Nadu government plans to introduce new measures, including insurance schemes specifically for the elderly and the establishment of a Medicity—a health sector hub designed to provide high-quality treatment and medical services. The administration has also expressed intentions to enact a comprehensive Public Health Act aimed at strengthening the state’s public health framework.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister has also announced an increase in the milk procurement price, an initiative expected to benefit dairy farmers by ensuring better financial returns.
This enhancement in health insurance coverage and accompanying health initiatives reflects the Tamil Nadu governments commitment to improving public health outcomes amid growing healthcare challenges.
