Tamil Nadu to Operate 15,659 Special Buses for Diwali from November 5 to 7

In preparation for the upcoming Diwali celebrations, the Tamil Nadu government has announced plans to operate a substantial number of special buses to accommodate the increased travel demand during this festive period. From November 5 to November 7, 2026, a total of 15,659 special buses will be deployed across the state. This initiative aims to ensure that residents and visitors can travel conveniently to their destinations, particularly as many people return to their hometowns to celebrate the festival with family and friends.

The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) will oversee the operation of these special services, which will connect major cities and towns throughout the state. The buses will be available for both long-distance and short-distance travel, catering to the diverse needs of passengers. The government has emphasized that these additional services are part of their commitment to facilitating smooth transportation during one of the busiest travel times of the year.

To further enhance the travel experience, the state transport authorities are expected to implement measures to ensure safety and comfort for all passengers. This includes maintaining hygiene standards on the buses and ensuring that the vehicles are well-maintained and equipped to handle the increased passenger load.

Passengers are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and to book their tickets early, as demand for travel during Diwali is typically high. The government has also advised travelers to check the schedules and routes of the special buses to ensure they can reach their destinations without any issues.

As Diwali approaches, the Tamil Nadu government remains focused on providing efficient transportation solutions to support the festive spirit and enable families to come together during this significant time. With the introduction of these special bus services, officials hope to alleviate congestion and enhance the overall travel experience for everyone celebrating the festival of lights.
