Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay Unveils Kuruvai Special Package for Paddy Cultivation with an Investment of ₹134.83 Crore
The opening of the Mettur Dam, traditionally scheduled for June 12, has been postponed due to a delay in the Southwest monsoon season. In response to this situation, the Chief Minister has introduced the Kuruvai Special Package aimed at supporting farmers and promoting paddy cultivation during this critical period.
The Kuruvai Special Package will provide various forms of assistance to help mitigate the impact of late monsoon rains on agricultural activities. This initiative may include financial aid, provision of seeds, and technical support to enable farmers to prepare for paddy cultivation as soon as the water levels in the dam are sufficient.
The Mettur Dam, located in Tamil Nadu, plays a crucial role in irrigation for the region, particularly for the agricultural sector during the Kharif season. The delay in the monsoon could significantly affect crop yields if not adequately addressed, making the timely implementation of the Kuruvai Special Package essential for sustaining the livelihoods of local farmers.
