Tamil Nadu Government Implements Transfer of 10 IAS Officers
V.P. Jeyaseelan has been appointed as the new Director of Tourism for the Tamil Nadu government, following his transfer from the role of Joint Commissioner (Health) at the Greater Chennai Corporation. He succeeds M.S. Shanmugam, who is set to retire on June 30 after a distinguished career in public service.
Jeyaseelan, known for his leadership in health management and public health initiatives, will now oversee tourism development in the state. This position is critical, especially as Tamil Nadu works to boost its tourism sector in the post-pandemic recovery phase. The tourism industry is a vital contributor to the states economy, and new leadership may bring fresh strategies to enhance visitor experiences and promote local attractions.
The appointment reflects the state governments continued commitment to integrating health considerations into the broader tourism agenda, ensuring that safety remains a priority as the sector revitalizes.
