Taxpayers Association Advocates for Elimination of Additional VAT and Cess on Fuel in Andhra Pradesh

The association has formally addressed a letter to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, advocating for the elimination of the additional Value Added Tax (VAT) and the road development cess imposed on fuel.

The request comes in response to growing concerns from citizens and businesses regarding the increasing cost of fuel and its subsequent impact on the economy. The association argues that removing these financial burdens could lead to lower fuel prices, which may alleviate economic strain for consumers and encourage economic activity.

In recent months, various stakeholders, including transport unions and small business owners, have expressed their dissatisfaction with rising fuel costs, which have surged due in part to added taxation. The associations appeal seeks to prompt discussions about potential fiscal reforms aimed at stabilizing fuel prices amidst ongoing fluctuations in the global oil market.

Such measures could not only benefit consumers but also enhance the overall business environment in the region. As the government faces pressure to address these economic concerns, it remains to be seen how officials will respond to the associations request.
