Telangana DGP Advocates for Unified Department to Combat Food Adulteration and Narcotics

A recent assessment by H-FAST has revealed significant instances of food adulteration in Hyderabad, highlighting a concerning spectrum of products that have been seized due to unsafe handling practices. This initiative underscores the urgent need for enhanced food safety measures in the region.

In response to these findings, the government has announced plans to establish a State-level department dedicated to food safety, which will expand on the existing H-FAST framework. This new department is anticipated to implement stricter regulations and enforcement mechanisms to ensure the integrity of food products in the market, thereby safeguarding public health.

Food adulteration poses serious risks to consumers, and authorities are increasingly recognizing the need for comprehensive strategies to combat this issue. Stakeholders, including food manufacturers and retailers, will likely be involved in the new department’s initiatives, which may include educational campaigns and regular inspections to promote compliance with food safety standards. Additional resources may also be allocated to support research and development in safer food handling practices.
