Telangana Power Demand Reaches Record High of 12,044 MW, Surpassing Previous Peak
Telangana Power Demand Reaches All-Time High of 12,044 MW
The state of Telangana has achieved a significant milestone as the power demand soared to a record 12,044 megawatts (MW), surpassing the previous peak of 11,945 MW recorded on February 2, 2023. This surge in demand reflects the increasing energy needs of the states growing population and economy.
Officials from the Telangana State Power Generation Corporation (TSGENCO) highlighted that the sharp increase in demand is attributed to various factors including rising temperatures, an expanding industrial base, and increased agricultural activities that necessitate more electricity. The demand spike was particularly notable during peak hours.
In response to this demand, the state’s power utilities have implemented measures to ensure adequate supply, including optimizing power generation from various sources like hydro, thermal, and renewable energy. The Telangana government has been actively promoting renewable energy projects in a bid to diversify its energy portfolio and meet future demand sustainably.
This record demand underscores the importance of continuous investment in power infrastructure and renewable energy sources to support economic growth and meet the needs of residents and businesses in the state.
