Tele-MANAS Helpline Provides Counseling to 3,000 Individuals Monthly in Andhra Pradesh, According to Health Minister

Tele-MANAS centers located in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam have collectively handled a total of 67,573 calls since their establishment. The Vijayawada center was inaugurated in 2022, while the Visakhapatnam center opened its doors in 2023.

Tele-MANAS, which stands for Tele-Mental Health Assistance and Networking Systems, is an initiative aimed at providing mental health support through telephonic consultations. The program seeks to enhance access to mental health care for individuals in Andhra Pradesh and aims to address the growing need for mental health services in the region.

These centers offer a range of services, including crisis intervention, counseling, and referral services for patients requiring further assistance. The initiative has garnered positive responses from the community as it brings professional mental health support directly to individuals, particularly beneficial during times of heightened mental health challenges.
